Good To Know
Welcome, dear tourists, to the breathtaking viewpoint of Camacha! Right here, standing next to the world-famous Café Relógio — famous mostly because it’s one of the only cafés with a clock in the area, so if you're lost in time, fear not, this café’s got you covered.
From here, if you squint real hard and maybe tilt your head to the right, you can spot the Ribeirinha spot. It’s a lovely spot, and I promise it’s not just a fancy word for “that random patch of land over there.” It’s like the VIP section of land, great for Instagram photos— or at least, that’s what they tell me.
Now, if it’s a really clear day, and by clear I mean like the stars have aligned and you've offered a sacrifice to the weather gods, you might just catch a glimpse of the Desert Islands. No, I didn’t make that name up, they’re literally called Desert Islands. Shocking, I know—an archipelago with a flair for the dramatic! They’re uninhabited, which is exactly what I dream about when my in-laws visit.
And if you look to your left, where the dramatic wind is blowing your hair just right for a photoshoot, you’ll spot the left side of Ponta de São Lourenço. Yes, only the left side, because the right side…well, it’s shy and prefers to stay out of the spotlight. But don’t worry, the left side is stunning! You’ll want to grab your binoculars, or just pretend to see it and nod along with everyone else.
So grab a coffee, take in the view, and try to look contemplative — this is prime postcard material, folks.
Also there is a famous Levada-Walk that is close this Viewpoint which you can check out here - Camacha Looptrail
