This place is possibly one of the oldest grocery stores in Old Town Funchal. It's so old that when it was established carrier pigeons were still delivering the mail. In the beginning, you were able to buy all kinds of goods like pastry and spices and a special blend of condiments, still from the founder’s time that can be bought today.

The best part is that it looks almost the same as it did all those years ago when it was established in 1966. That's even before the moon landing. Yes we land on the moon! Or did we? Who cares!

The most important part is right in the back of the shop, where you find a small Poncha Bar, and that is where they might serve you the most original Poncha of them all. Hell, they might even still use Arguadente (Sugarcane Schnaps) which the grandfather was hiding in the basement from his beautiful wife. And they even sell this Arguandente in Bottles. So you can try to make your own Poncha at home and have a party which you might forget you had.
