This place is possibly one of the oldest grocery stores in Funchal's Old Town. It’s so old that when it was founded, carrier pigeons were still delivering the mail. Back then, you could buy all sorts of goods like pastries and spices, as well as a special spice blend that dates back to the time of the founder—and yes, you can still buy it today.

The best part? It looks almost exactly the same as it did when it was established in 1966. That was even before the moon landing. Yep, we went to the moon! Or did we? Who cares!

The most important spot is at the back of the store, where you'll find a small Poncha bar. There, they might serve you the most authentic Poncha of all. Heck, they might even still use sugarcane rum (aguardente) that Grandpa used to hide in the cellar from his lovely wife. And they even sell that aguardente in bottles, so you can try making your own Poncha at home. Throw a party that you’ll probably forget even happened!
